Thermal Spraying

Process in which thermal energy is used to create a spraying of material onto a surface, in molten, semi-molten or plasticized state, to provide a coating.

HVOF – High Velocity Oxi-Fuel

Cermets: WC/Co; WC/Co-Cr; WC/Ni; WC/NiCr; WC/NiCrBSiFe; Cr2C3/NiCr.

. Raw material: powder.
. Typical flow: 2,5 to 3,0 Kg/h.
. Typical speed of the gases: 2000 m/s.
. Typical speed of the particles: 300 m/s.
. Power supply: oxygen combustion with propane or                          hidrogen.
. Power supply temperature: 3000 ºC.
. Typical adhesion tensions: >80 MPa.
. Typical porosity: 0,5 to1 %.
. Typical coating thickness: 100 to 500 µm.

Objective

To adapt and improve the surfaces for the solicitations that will be submitted, providing them characteristics of:

. Resistance to wear (abrasion, erosion and friction);
. Corrosion and oxidation resistance;
. Thermal barrier;
. Óptical;
. Biocompatibility.

Advantages for the customer

. Higher components lifetime;
. Costs reduction;
. Lower maintenance and repair times;
. Higher global productivity;
. Higher product quality.
