Thin Coatings

PVD – Physical Vapour Deposition

Thin coating process (thickness of 2-5µm) in vacuum deposition where a material is, transformed in vapour, transported and finally deposited in the surface of the base material.

Advantages

· Higher components lifetime
(cutting tools, moulds, stamping and progressive tools, etc.)
· Lower maintenance and repair times
· Costs redution
· Higher global productivity
· Higher product quality
· Reduction or elimination of lubrication

DiaPlus®

DLC

General Characteristics

. Very high wear resistance and low friction coefficient.
. High hardness and high temperature oxidation resistance.
. High thermal expansion coefficient.
. Good toughness.
. Good corrosion resistance.
DLC - Diamond Like Carbon type coating.

Typical Applications

Cutting tools: Coating of Hard Metal and High Speed Steel tools specially designed to work Aluminium alloys. Machining of difficult materials.
Dry or low refrigeration cutting parameters.

Injection moulds: coating of mould components submitted to high temperature as Aluminium injection and other light alloys.
Plastic injection moulds components submitted to great wear, corrosion and seizing.
The best choice coating material for mould moving components submitted to friction metal to metal and possibility of seizing.

Forming tools: coating of tools to cut, stamp and tools for powder pressing.

General wear applications.
